Seven Churches in South Oxfordshire

From the Rector: Saturday 19th January 2020

Welcome

Dear friends,

A huge welcome to this service, wherever you are worshipping in the Langtree Team ministry area. May Christ the Light shine upon us in the revealing of his glory.

It is the time of year when committees get under way again; Checkendon Church council are meeting at The Old Rectory on Wed 22nd at 8pm.  Stoke Row Church Council are meeting at Sue Clarke’s the following Wednesday (29th) at 7.30pm.

Your Church Council

Every church in the Team Ministry has its own elected church council. The Church Council is responsible for the fabric and finances of your church, and share with the ministry team the leadership and direction setting for our work together. Members of the church (those on the electoral roll) choose whom they wish to elect to the church council. A church councillor serves for three years, and there are normally elections held every year at the time of the annual church meeting in April. Some individuals are automatically included as members of the church council, because they have been elected or appointed to other offices. These include your churchwardens, the deanery synod representative, the licensed lay ministers and the clergy.

Classical Concert

You are all warmly invited to the classical concert at Checkendon Church on Friday 7th Feb; doors open from 6.30pm. Three graduates of the Royal College of Music entertain us on violin, cello and classical guitar.

Licensing Service

The second date is the following week, on Tuesday 11th February at 7.30pm at St Mary’s Ipsden. Revd John Blair will be licensed to the Team Ministry as associate priest for Ipsden and North Stoke by the Venerable Judy French, our Archdeacon. Come and join us for a lovely service as we welcome John and Jean to our life together.

Finally, let us continue to pray for peace across the world; peace between nations, between families, and between humanity and the natural world which God has given us to share, and not destroy.

Your Servant for Christ’s sake Kevin Davies
