Seven Churches in South Oxfordshire

From the Rector: Sunday 27th November

Dear Friends,

A very warm welcome to this service, wherever you are worshipping this morning across the Langtree Team Ministry area. A special welcome to Archdeacon Judy who is visiting Woodcote (8am), Ipsden and Checkendon this morning, and also to James and Georgie Quinby, visiting Checkendon after their return from service with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Mali. May God’s peace and joy be with us all as we share in the mission of Christ.

Today is Advent Sunday, and we begin the season of prayerful expectation, reminding ourselves not only of the coming celebration of Christ’s birth, but also of his longed for return, whether in our own lifetimes or in the future. Advent in Christian tradition is a time of prayer, fasting, penitence and reflection, all too often swamped these days by the rush to Christmas. We are encouraged to take a little time each day to consider our own walk with God: “Am I ready to meet Christ?”  “Am I prepared to face His judgement?”

Don’t forget that you can always find these notes and service times and dairy dates on the Team ministry website: www.langtreechurches.org   There is also the facebook page for day to day comment and picture uploads of happenings around the Team. www.facebook.com/langtreechurches

with every blessing in our Lord and Saviour
