Seven Churches in South Oxfordshire

From the Rector: Sunday 5th May 2019

Dear friends,

A warm welcome to this service, wherever you are worshipping with us this Sunday. May the joy of the risen Christ be with you all.

Firstly please make a note in your diary to visit the Checkendon Church Flower Festival – on the weekend of 18/19th May. There is a special celebration service on the Sunday morning too. Entry is free, although donations are welcome.

Flowers at Checkendon Church

Team Feast !

Secondly, please make a further diary note for Sunday 30th June, at 10.30am which is our next Team Service. Checkendon Church will be hosting this, and, in honour of the Festival of St Peter and St Paul (Checkendon’s Patron Saints – 29th June), after the service at noon there will be a Team Feast at The Highwayman in Exlade Street. Unlike the Church Service, for the Feast afterwards you must book your place in advance. You do this by emailing Debi Hornsby on  dahhornsby@gmail.com and paying her £20 per ticket. Debi will explain also about the menu options.  There are only 40 places available so I am expecting them to go very quickly – don’t delay !

This coming Tuesday (7th) sees our Langtree Team Ministry Council meeting at Hill Farm House, Hailey, at 8pm. This a good chance for your PCC reps to report back on your church activities, as well as to hear from around the wider Team ministry. We’ll also be discussing methods of receiving donations electronically, as well as hearing about a new Discipleship initiative that will be launched in the autumn.

The Aussies are coming !

On Friday we are going to be visited by two Anglican clergy from Tasmania, Australia, who are keen to hear something of our experiences in how we work as a “multi parish Team”. Please pray for Revds James and Joel as they share with us for a day.

May the peace of God be with you all

Your Rector                                     Canon Kevin Davies
