Seven Churches in South Oxfordshire

From the Rector: Tuesday 13th of July

School’s (almost) out

Dear friends,

The school year comes to an end a week on Thursday. At Checkendon, we give thanks for the distinguished service of Headmistress Mrs Gillian Seymour. At Stoke Row we pray for a safe delivery for Headmistress’ Mrs Charlotte Whittle, expecting her second child this month. Both schools have been amazing throughout the pandemic, and both communities owe a huge dept of gratitude to all staff and volunteers for their committment and dedication at this time. There are other ways to greatness than on a football field, happily for most of us. Whatever your field, let us each strive for excellence, and integrity, with all our hearts. Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say, rejoice. (Phil 4:4)

You can support Checkendon church and  Stoke Row churches via dedicated and secure online card donation pages. Just click on the link. If you’ve not tried this way to make a donation, please give it a go. It is very secure.

Just around the corner

We await new guidelines from the central church authorities regarding Covid safety post July 19th; it is very likely that any changes will not be introduced locally until September at the earliest.

Sunday 25th July sees a number of milestones: at 9am in Checkendon Church there is the Annual Church Meeting. We’ll be electing officers and receiving reports from a number of sources; how have things been for our church over this last year? Everyone is welcome.

Also on Sunday 25th July our final 11am zoom service (for now) will be a celebratory Songs of Praise. Do make a note to come and join in, and give thanks for what we’ve learned and shared together this way.

Again, I say, rejoice!   Your Rector, Revd Kevin
