Dear friends,
A very warm welcome to our Remembrance Sunday commemoration services across the Langtree Team Ministry area.
We give thanks today for the sacrifices that were (and are still being) made which enable us to live in peace and freedom. As we remember the men and women of our communities who served in both the past and the present let us resolve to continue to work for peace and reconciliation among the nations. We give thanks to God for the professionalism of our armed forces and pray for those known to us who are on active service at this time.
Many of our Team Churches will be giving their collections today to the work of the Royal British Legion, or another service charity, so please do give as generously as you can, and use the gift aid envelopes in the pews to add to the value of your donation. Our church treasurers will do the paperwork, for which we give them our thanks.
Next Friday (17th, from 7.45pm) the nationally renowned woodworker and craftsman Phil Koomen will be giving an illustrated talk at Checkendon Village Hall (in aid of the Church) about his life and work. Tickets are £8 and include canapes. These can be obtained or reserved from Sue Endacott on 01189 843858. Anyone from around the Team is very welcome.
May the Lord God bless you and keep you in His love. Peace be with you all.
Your Rector Revd Canon Kevin Davies
