Dear friends,
A very warm welcome to this service from all of us across the Langtree Team Ministry. May God give you his peace and joy this day.
In this very warm weather, don’t forget to look out for elderly neighbours and frail friends, many of whom find very hot weather as discomforting as the winter cold. Dehydration is a real risk, so do encourage plenty of cool drinks to be consumed.
The food bank collecting points in our churches are still in operation. Do please continue to donate tins packets and jars, and our volunteers will ensure that our gifts are taken to a food bank close to your church. The warm weather can mask the fact that there are people local to us who struggle to provide even the basic necessities for their family, and that this need does not change even though the sun may be shining.
In the quiet before the service today do take a few moments to look around at your church, and thank God for those whose provision in previous generations meant that you can sit where you are sitting this morning. Then ask God to show you what might be needed in order that the generations that come after us can enjoy the same privilege. What will our successors thank God for, in relation to us?
Your Rector Canon Kevin Davies
