LANGTREE TEAM MINISTRY
Notice Sheet for Sunday 13th December 2015
3rd Sunday of Advent (Purple)

Dear friends,

Welcome ! Welcome ! Welcome !   May you know God’s peace and hope at this Advent season.  This third Sunday in Advent we remember the ministry of John the Baptist in looking forward to the coming of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the World.

Our hearts go out to our friends in the North, once more suffering with flooding. The city of Carlisle (from  where Emma and I moved in 2002) is especially badly hit, the floods being worse than those of both 2005 and 2009. Many of the homes you have seen flooded out on your screens will not have been insured – either because they are now deemed uninsurable, or because the householders could not afford the premiums after the last floods. So it will be a miserable Christmas in that beautiful border city. Please pray especially for the church and congregation of St Aidans, which is on the Warwick Road in Carlisle, and which has also been flooded.
Keswick, Cockermouth and Appleby are also terribly badly hit, and the (very impressive) new flood defences in all of these places seem not to have made any difference to the scale of the tragedy.

This Wednesday at Stoke Row do join us for Carols Round the Well at Stoke Row at 7pm, jointly led by the Church and Chapel. Mulled Wine and Mince pies will be served in the village hall afterwards.

Our Carol and Christmas services are listed at the back of this pewsheet – please do take it home and pin it up for a ready reference. And please do decide whom you are going to invite along to share the celebrations!   Everything can also be found in the events section of our facebook page: www.facebook.com/langtreechurches      And watch out for our Team Website, coming soon !

The staff team and I wish you all a very blessed Advent season, and we remain, as ever, grateful for your support and prayers.

Your Rector and Area Dean                 Revd Kevin Davies
