Seven Churches in South Oxfordshire

From the Rector: Tuesday 19th January 2021

Small steps

Dear friends,

…..faithfully walked, add up. The Covid battle rages around us in Intensive Care Units, hospital wards, care homes, and now GP surgeries and vaccination centres. We are moving from a responsive and defensive footing to a proactive and aggressive stance; treatments have improved, and each vaccination begins the slow removal of potential hosts for the virus to infect. Step by step, ground is being won back. A single vaccination seems a small thing, but, taken together with thousands of others, makes a difference to many more lives than just the one person innoculated. For each one of us has family, friends, colleagues. Each one of us belongs to a community, to networks. Each one of us, whether school age, working, or retired, contributes something to society. So, please, when you are invited to have your jab, whether next month or later, don’t turn it down. It may only be a small step, but, faithfully walked, they add up.

Lent is coming !

The Lenten season of penitence begins on Ash Wednesday which this year falls on 17th February. There will be an evening service on zoom for the whole Team at 7.30pm, with contributions from all the churches. Make a note of these numbers in your diary: 879 8030 1356 and 046897.

You are also invited to join me on the Lenten Journey, with a ten minute daily reflection and prayer at 8.30pm each evening throughout Lent, starting on 18th February. We’ll be heading into the wilderness with Christ, on the road to Jerusalem, exploring God’s love, and our faith, using Scripture and prayer. Zoom details coming soon. It will be a good opportunity to reflect together on everything that has been happening to us all. Small steps, remember ?
