Seven Churches in South Oxfordshire

From the Rector: Sunday 14th May 2017

Dear friends,

A very warm welcome to this service, wherever you are worshipping in the Langtree Team ministry area. A particular welcome for those who are visiting, or  recently moved into the area. Please do make yourself known to a member of the ministry team.

Those at Checkendon will be pleased to hear (no pun intended) that the sound system has been renovated and slightly upgraded during the last week. Several broken items have been replaced, and new features added.  As with a lot of things in a church, the sound system is a good example of something that is normally hidden, unseen, and generally taken for granted – as long as it is working well.

All of our churches rely on the hard work and generosity, both in time and money, of volunteers as we try to serve our local communities in the ways we believe that God is calling us. But nothing happens by itself. In our smaller villages that usually means something to the effect that if you or I don’t do it, then it doesn’t happen.  Similarly that also means that if you or I do not come to church week by week, then church will soon cease to happen week by week, as the Team and also the Diocese look at better ways of using the limited resources that we share.

Give thanks to God for the freedom to worship that we happily enjoy in our country, a freedom which is not shared by Christians in other parts of the world. Please pray particularly for Arab Christians – in Egypt, Palestine, and Syria, who are particularly at risk from persecution from various islamic factions.
