Seven Churches in South Oxfordshire

From the Rector: Sunday 29th January 2017

Dear friends,

A very warm welcome to this service, wherever you are worshipping in the Langtree Team Ministry area.

This week the season of the Epiphany (the revealing of Christ to the world) comes to an end on Thursday with the Feast of Candlemas – properly known as the Presentation of Christ in the Temple. We take one last long look back at Christmas, and the infant/junior Jesus, and then turn towards Easter, and the work of salvation effected by Christ. Next Sunday is the “fourth Sunday before Lent”.

In these cold winter days, please do not forget to pop a little something into the Foodbank collecting boxes in your churches, and please keep an eye on the elderly and/or infirm of your communities. It is so easy for an older person to get cold, or feel shut in, at this time of the year.

Thank you to those of you who came to the Cathedral on Saturday for my installation, and to all who worked hard to make the Jazz Evening at Checkendon such a great night. Also to all those of you involved in the Ipsden Pantomime, for all the work, care, love and passion that goes into our communities. And people say the rural church is finished…..(oh no it isn’t….).

Your Rector                                                                                Revd Canon Kevin Davies

Please Pray for:

Family and friends of Alex Burns, whose funeral was at Checkendon on Wednesday.

Your Churchwardens and Church Council, and who might stand for election to office this year.

The Langtree Team Staff, and their families.
