Seven Churches in South Oxfordshire

From the Rector: Sunday 22nd January 2017

Dear friends,

A very warm welcome to this service, wherever you are worshipping this morning across the Langtree Team Ministry area. May our community with one another reflect the warmth and hospitality of the Good News of Jesus, in whom God shows his love for the whole world.

In case you missed the notice a couple of weeks ago, you are invited to Choral Evensong at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, next Saturday (28th Jan) at 6pm, during which I shall be installed as an honorary Canon of the Cathedral. There is a drinks reception after the service in the Cathedral itself, to which you are also invited. If you plan to attend, please could you let me know (if you have not already done so) as the Cathedral would like a rough idea of numbers for catering purposes.

Don’t forget that you can always get “from the Rector” delivered straight to your inbox, by subscribing on the team website at www.langtreechurches.org  . There are also the facebook and twitter pages for up to the minute and last minute notices and happenings. www.facebook.com/langtreechurches and www.twitter.com/langtreeteam

This coming Friday is the annual Holocaust memorial day, so next Sunday (29th) at the service at Checkendon I propose to speak about this difficult subject, and what it still means for Christian-Jewish relations today. Some of you may have seen the special edition of the Antiques Road Show which aired on the BBC on Sunday 15th, which is worth catching on the iplayer if you have an hour to spare.

Yours in Christ’s service                                                                        Revd Kevin Davies
