Seven Churches in South Oxfordshire

From the Rector: Sunday 18th June 2017

Dear friends,

A very warm welcome to this service, wherever you are worshipping in the Langtree Team ministry area today. A particular welcome to all the Fathers (Dads) with us this morning, as it is Father’s Day.

Dads – we salute you!

Do stay behind after our worship today for refreshments. You may also like to come along to the Songs of Praise service at Mongewell Church, this afternoon at 3.30pm. (St John’s Mongewell is the ruined church set in the ground of the old Carmel College site, by the Thames.) Do come along for some great singing, and special refreshments.

Revd Angela Linton has warned us all to avoid Goring & Streatley if at all possible next weekend, because the villages will be extra busy with visitors due to the George Michael fan base descending for the singer’s birthday.

Do please continue to remember in prayer those sitting examinations at this time, whether at GCSE, A level or degree level. Thank God for the gift of education; Jesus said “the truth shall set you free.” So we pray for the upholding of truth in all parts of civil and national life.

Finally, on a more sombre note, we are all warned that there has again been an increase in thefts of metal and other property from churches in this area. If you see anything unusual in or around your church please do not hesitate to call the police, the churchwardens, and your minister, in that order. Take full details, and if you have a camera on your phone, take a photograph or two.

with every blessing as you continue to worship and serve, in Christ’s name

Revd Canon Kevin Davies
