Welcome to this Confirmation Service

Dear friends,

A very warm welcome to our Team Service today. It is particularly good to be able to welcome Bishop Colin to our service this morning, to confirm and celebrate the eucharist with us.

We especially pray today for the candidates, that God’s Holy Spirit will touch and bless and equip each of them afresh for the next stages of their pilgrimage of faith.

In the wider Henley deanery, your prayers are requested for the new Rector of Henley with Remenham, the Revd Jeremy Taylor, who was instituted by Bishop Colin last week. Please pray for Jeremy and his family as they settle into their new life in the Henley community, and the deanery. Also in the deanery, please pray for the shortlisted candidates for the Vicar’s role at Goring and Streatley. Interviews are to be held there next week.

Prayer Spaces Visits Stoke Row

In our church schools, we give thanks to God for the very enjoyable “Prayer Spaces” workshop which made a return visit to Stoke Row School on Wednesday and Thursday. This was hosted by church members from St Johns, and also Checkendon. Checkendon School Governors also held a special “Strategy Day” yesterday at the school. A theme that occurs very regularly in all our church schools is the ongoing need for governor volunteers. If you would like to consider this role and what is involved, please do have a word in confidence with your local minister.

Harvest Festival !

Next Sunday sees our Harvest season continue, with Festival Services at Woodcote, Checkendon, and Stoke Row, and on Sunday 14th at Whitchurch Hill and Ipsden. It is time to celebrate with great joy the wonderfull goodness and faithfulness of our Father God, who blesses the earth and cares for all his people.
