Seven Churches in South Oxfordshire

From the Rector: 17th March 2019

Dear friends,

A very warm welcome to our worship this morning from all of us across the Langtree Team Churches. May the hope and faith of the pilgrim Christ be with us today.

Lent Study groups continue around the Team – do see inside. It is a great chance to meet together midweek to share and learn together.

It is also the season for the renewal of your church’s electoral roll. This happens every six years, and a completely new membership roll must be drawn up. Our different churches are using different methods to achieve this – perhaps by letter, perhaps by sign up in church, but the important thing is to please make sure that your response is received as soon as possible.

Your prayers are requested for the families of those killed in the Ethiopian air tragedy last week. I was at the Ethiopian Embassy in London this week at a reception with the Bishop of Reading celebrating the development of Ethiopia as a destination for Christian pilgrims, and there is a profound sense of shock, and also deep sadness at this terrible setback for their developing economy.

Please also could I request your prayers for your local school, or pre-school? Pressures upon the teaching profession from Government, local authority and also parents can prove a corrosive cocktail for well being and self esteem.

This week’s text to learn by heart is the Lord’s Prayer. Cover it up with your hand. See how much you can say, without looking. Every blessing.         Revd Kevin

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.
